Great to have you along - thanks so much for showing us problems and solving.
All the best,
Andrew | | (62) Posted by Andrew Buchanan [Thursday, Jan 12, 2023 11:32] | Most of our monthly zoom calls have been on Saturdays at about noon GMT to allow folk from most of the populated timezones to participate. Attendee numbers continue to be healthy hurray. However, not everyone can make Saturdays - I’ve had a request to hold it on other days sometimes. Sundays at the same time would also work. Does anyone have any opinions about this? A fixed day of the week? Alternate between Sat & Sun? Please let me know thanks! | | (63) Posted by Andrew Buchanan [Monday, Jan 23, 2023 09:07] | Dear chess friends,
As agreed, in 2023 we will be alternating the last Saturday & last Sunday of the month for zoom meetings. And as agreed, the next Zoom meeting will be on Saturday 28th January.
As regulars know, it’s a very informal affair. Attendees are younger on average, but there is substantial composing and solving skill amongst the ranks.
Time remains noon GMT, which equates to 9pm Japan, 8pm Singapore/Hong Kong, 5.30 India, noon in continental Europe, 11am UK, 7am East Coast USA.
The meeting lasts for about 4 hours, but people come and go as they choose.
If you have a friend who wants to join, please contact me and I will send them an invite.
As usual please bring problems for general solving, topics for discussion, jokes etc. Problems discussed in such a private call are not considered to have been published, so this can be a good opportunity to try stuff out.
Love to all,
Andrew

Where do you think that my "avatar picture" on Julia's fairies (https://juliasfairies.com/problems/no-1729/ ) was taken? | | (67) Posted by James Malcom [Wednesday, Jan 25, 2023 06:13] | Do another photo shoot while zooming with us, then. | | (68) Posted by Andrew Buchanan [Saturday, Feb 18, 2023 15:45] | Dear chess friends,
As agreed, in 2023 we will be alternating between the last Saturday & last Sunday of the month for zoom meetings. So the next Zoom meeting will be on *Sunday* 26th February.
As regulars know, it’s a very informal affair. The average age of attendees is low, but there is substantial composing and solving skill amongst the ranks.
Time remains noon GMT, which equates to 9pm Japan, 8pm Singapore/Hong Kong, 5.30 India, noon in continental Europe, 11am UK, 7am East Coast USA.

Is this an improvement from your perspective, Hauke? | | (71) Posted by Hauke Reddmann [Sunday, Feb 19, 2023 15:53] | Well, given that I am the punchingball of the universe,
holding the chat on Saturday will mean I am free on Sunday,
and vice versa. You can't win ;-) | | (72) Posted by Andrew Buchanan [Thursday, Mar 23, 2023 07:02] | Dear chess friends,
