### 20th Romanian Tzuica Tourney

The announcement of the 2022 Tzuica tourney will soon be published on the WCCC 2022 website.
https://wccc2022.wfcc.ch/competitions/

The theme this year: helpself-problems showing Consecutive Follow My Leader (FML) in at least two solutions.
In three consecutive half-moves of each solution, the following pattern occurs:
- Piece X leaves square A
- Immediately, Piece Y leaves square B and moves to A (first FML)
- Immediately, Piece Z moves to square B (second FML).
Piece X and Piece Z may be different or may be the same unit.

Deadline: Wednesday, November 16th 2022, 8 p.m (Congress time, GMT+4)

All details, definitions and thematic examples are included in the announcement:

Example 1 for the Orthodox section:

Petko A. Petkov
StrateGems 2009
(= 5+7 )

hs#3 2 solutions

(i) 1.Rb1 Re1 2.Bc3 Re5 3.Be1+ Rxe1#
2 consecutive Follow My Leader on e5 (2.Be5-c3 Re1-e5) and e1 (2...Re1-e5 3.Bc3-e1+)
(ii) 1.Bb2 Bd4 2.Rd1 Bg1 3.Rd4+ Bxd4#
2 consecutive Follow My Leader on g1 (2.Rg1-d1 Bd4-g1) and d4 (2...Bd4-g1 3.Rd1-d4+)

Example 2 for the Fairy section:

Petko A. Petkov
KoBulChess 2019, dedicated to G. Foster
(= 5+3 )

hs#3 2 solutions
Pepo
=Vao, =Pao

Definition of Pepo:
An attacked king has no power. In particular, he can no longer attack the opposite king. A king can be captured only if he is attacked by at least 2 pieces.

(i) 1.VAb8 Kd6 2.VAd5 Bf3 3.PAc7+ Rxd2#
2 consecutive Follow My Leader on d5 (1...Kd5-d6 2.VAf3-d5) and f3 (2.VAf3-d5 Bh5-f3)
(ii) 1.PAc8 Kc6 2.PAd5 Rd2 3.VAc7+ Bxf3#

Forgive me for inserting an orthodox #2 of mine (Schwalbe 2006):

(= 8+14 )

Nice one Hauke. Pity the mate after the new flight is not different (like in classics).

@Seetharaman: Can do (just patched it), but only by repeating Sxd4 another time.
Doesn't make it that much better...

(= 9+11 )

Interesting theme - but why restrict the thematic sequence to just 3 half-moves?
Maybe some would like the challenge of taking it further.

Many thanks, Neal, for your comment.
Of course, there is no restriction related to the maximal number of consecutive FML moves to be shown.

Sky is the limit!

Thanks Vlaicu.
But then you should amend your wording: "In at least three consecutive half-moves..."
You know how easily they all get confused.

There is a misprint in the original post: Petko A. Petkov (StrateGems 2009) - wRg6 to g7.

@Joaquim: Corrected, thanks!

@Neal:
Confusion can easily be avoided. Joost de Heer wrote some wise words last year about the 19th Tzuica Tourney announcement:

Rule of thumb: If it's not disallowed in the rules, it's allowed.
