Christmas problem

David Przepiorka composed this problem, featuring the charming Herlin maneuver:

Süddeutsche Schachblätter, 1907

(= 7+7 )

#4

The well-known solution is 1.Ld3! zz
1...g4 2.Dc7! g3 3.Dxg3 Kxb3 4.Lb5#; 1...gxh4 2.Dc8 h3 3.Dxh3 Kxb3 4.Lb5#

Inspired by this scheme, I searched for something different and richer in the play on the right side of the diagram, concerning the Black pawn moves options. Of course, I couldn't nor really wanted to "improve" nor even preserve the Herlin maneuver, in fact I didn't want to "improve" the original problem. I just wanted to do something different and at same time joyfull, in order to submit to my friends of Belgrade and Riga, at the Christmas Solving Contest, last Saturday.

The result of this search is the following problem, which I hope have provoked some smiles on the faces of the 18 solvers that participated in the event, in Belgrade and also Riga, thank to the generosity of Julia Vsoka. Want to have a try on it?

Oh yes, sorry. Thank you, Kevin! I added the stipulation.

No solvers in Brazil. The title "Brazilian Christmas Solving Contest" was suggested by Marjan, because the idea was mine, also the selection of problems, and the problems were composed by Brazilian composers, excepting three by Milan Velimirovic (the original idea was 4).

In this context, having solvers in Brazil was innapropriate, because the four Sonnenfeld's problems are super-well known here.
