Same-side added moves from almost stalemate

So to say the "inverse" of the epic thread :-)

(= 4+15 )

Black of course can't be stalemated here :-),
so assume he has exactly one move. If he may
play again, 37. (w/o promo I get 34.)

Improve (also by replacing "1 move" with "any").

it seems you missed 38 with your idea :
(= 4+13 )

You may rotate position and add two pawn moves, or am I wrong?

Direct unpin. Clever. I knew I wasn't at the maximum by far.

So my try, 53 moves:

(= 9+5 )

EDIT: 56

(= 9+6 )

What do additional "promo" pins yield? With pretty near-lying
choices I get 66 moves.

Hauke, I overbid you, regarding promoted pieces, with 70 (84-14).

Humbly accepted, although this falls under the x-y
and not the x-1 record. I fix that :-)

(= 9+7 )

71-1.

This setup can also be used for x-y, please optimize:

(= 10+7 )

120-15

EDIT: The other direction gives a few moves more (124-15):

(= 11+7 )
