Title certificates/diplomas

There used to be some diplomas/certificates by the PCCC whenever someone gained solving/composing titles. I’ve got mine in 1995 for International Solving Grandmaster title. However I do not know why but I never got certificates for GM titles (both solving and composing). I do not know why PCCC stopped issuing certificates but I think it’s wrong. It does not make sense that you spend so much time to achieve norms and then you do not get anything. Right now I cannot prove to anyone that I am a GM in composing and solving of chess problems. The only place where it’s listed is on the PCCC site but there should be some certified paper confirming titles.

I am wondering what is the opinion of the other problemists about this issue. Does anyone knows when did PCCC stopped issuing certificates?

I am not quite sure that PCCC/ICCU stopped issuing GM/IM/FM certificates, as you mention. At least officially, I can't recall having heard anything like that. However, neither am I sure who is the responsible person to prepare them nowadays. Did you contact the Qualifications sub-committee spokesman?

On a side note, as regards WCCT, WCCI, WCSC, ECSC and ISC, the present status is that the diplomas are usually prepared by the organiser of the respective / next championship or festival or congress.

I followed up on your advice and I contacted Qualifications sub-committee spokesman. Based on his answer it looks like our current president canceled this practice of issuing certificates for achieved titles. It looks like there is work in progress to reinstitute this practice again.

Hello!

Got my IM certificate in 1992 along with the WCCT G2 1st place certificate. But didn't get any for 1st place G2 in 1988 :(
Since I haven't composed much since then, don't have to worry too much about these ephemeral things ;)

But more seriously, I feel at least a nicely designed and signed pdf file could be made available so that composers could print it out, frame it, hang it, gaze at it....

(Have to dust off mine this Sunday... :))
