Dear chess friends,

can you please help me with a problem? I found this in Bláthy's book, but is there a cook already known? Can someone test it with Popeye?

The author says it most likely is incorrect, but doesn't give a solution or source. The solution is probably rather easy to find if one sinks into it (most likely starting with 1.Qd4+ Kc7 2.Qd7+ Kb8 3.Qd8+ Ka7 4.Qb6+ Kb8 and then White just has to bring Black in zugzwang, so probably it is something like 5.Kd2 to reply to Bh2 at any point with Sg3 and Black must take because of the threat S:e4), but are there cooks?

Thanks,
Siegfried

The solution has a similar beat to his #292 for sure, with some way for White to win tempo and get rid of the Black bishop. It is also no doubt cooked since the 292 mover is also cooked, according to various sources, although I still haven't found a print of the #292's cook.

The German Wikipedia on him now states, when translatd by Google, this-"He published 50 of them in his book in 1890, in the appendix of which, among other things, a study and a Matt in 345 moves are listed. However, he doubted the correctness of the latter himself and refrained from providing a solution." -https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ott%C3%B3_Titusz_Bl%C3%A1thy

No source is given, but I would susepct it to be true.
