But would you say that this is a win in Kriegspiel ?

Instantly to the top of my reading heap!! | | (3) Posted by Eugene Rosner [Thursday, Sep 12, 2013 04:00]; edited by Eugene Rosner [13-09-12] | I can barely force mate with K+B+BvsK in normal play, let alone K+B+SvsK! and now we're talking the latter in kriegspiel!!
One of my favorite books is Reuben Fine's Basic Chess Endings. It was one of my earliest reads when i was 12 or 13. I'm a poor player but it was actually watching a local tournament, where both players were in time trouble that convinced me that serious OTB play was not for me. The ulcers I got watching that game were quite memorable. I had no finger nails left!
One day in college I picked up some of Ken Howard's problem books at a local B. Dalton book store. I was 19 at the time. The first names were Loyd, Shinkman, Marble and Dobbs. I haven't looked back since! The funny thing was I knew Eric Hassberg at my local swim club. We played a lot of table tennis and OTB games, until one day he had the courage to introduce problems to me. He had a copy of USPB which I devoured. Little did he know that I was already dabbling in this. I was hooked. | | (4) Posted by seetharaman kalyan [Tuesday, Sep 17, 2013 11:32] | Interesting. I think I will start a new thread where others can share similar early experiences. | | No more posts |
