Milan Velimirović 64 Memorial Tourney (21.04.2015 – 21.04.2016) Announced today - see the Headlines.
We remain grateful to Milan's friends Barry Barnes, Touw Hian Bwee and Hans-Peter Rehm who gladly accepted the roles of judges. |

Almost ten months have passed, and the number of received entries is more than worrying:
Group A - 7
Group B - 0 (!?)
Group C - 1 (!?) |

Today we mark three years since Milan's death.
The time of this memorial tourney wasn't convenient for composers who rushed to publish their best works till the end of 2013-15 cycle, neither for all who are still working on the 10th WCCT themes.
Besides, the set condition for the Group B (Velimirovic Attack) proved to be very difficult, as described by Milan himself in the presented article.
On the other hand, some other formal tourneys in the same period proved to be successful, and the free themes in Groups A and C give no reason to complain about difficulty.
Although MP members haven't posted any questions in the thread, perhaps we should clear now some possible doubts:
Group A is for all single phase twomovers, and NOT ONLY for the 7th WCCT theme.
There is NO RESTRICTION in number of entries per author, per group.
Please, post any other questions if they are. |

The low number of entries is surprising even assuming many are busy (like me) with WCCT. But I think I will surely participate, (hoping to in Section C) though I have not come up with a scheme yet ! |

Today we mark Milan's 64th birthday.
This day was planned to be closing date for the tourney dedicated to the great composer, solver, editor, publisher and creator of Mat Plus website. The response by composers have been bellow expectations so far, and we still hope the number of entries in Groups B and C will increase till the end of the day...
The CLOSING DATE FOR GROUP B WILL BE EXTENDED TILL MAY 5th, in hopes of having more than one (1) entry presenting Velimirovic Attack... A longer postponement would not be possible if awards are to be ready till the Belgrade WCCC.
If the theme for Group B proved to be too difficult, it is hard to explain small number of orthodox #3s with no set theme (Group C). If you have forgotten to send already prepared entries, please indicate you will do it very soon! |
