| | (1) Posted by Sarah Hornecker [Friday, Dec 18, 2009 16:20]; edited by Sarah Hornecker [09-12-31] | Anatoly Motor (information sought) Information is sought about Anatoly T. Motor, born December 5th 1935.
He is not mentioned in Grossmeisterskij kompositziya by VM Archakov and neither in Shakhmaty encyclopedicheskij slovar nor Mala encyclopedie sachu.
Well, his compositions were not of high quality - many are incorrect and some in ways that one could have found without a computer - but many also have interesting ideas.
Here's one I was able to correct by adding bPa6.
(= 5+7 )
Anatoly Motor
Revista de Romana de Sah 1974, correction by SH (original publication)
White to move and draw
1.g7+ Kg8 2.Sg6! fxg6 3.Rc6 Rb8/i 4.Rb6 Rf8/i 5.Rf6!! Rxf6 6.gxf6 c2 7.f7+ Kxf7 8.Kh7 c1Q/ii 9.g8Q+ Ke7 10.Qf7+! Kxf7 stalemate
i - RxR stalemate
ii - 8...Bxg7 stalemate
Another nice Motor idea:
(= 4+5 )
Anatoly Motor
Mugnos MT, Ajedrez de Estilo 1988
White to move and draw
(after two moves, original position 2N5/8/4kP1K/p5Pp/P4Pbb/8/8/8 1.f5+ Bxf5 2.f7 Kxf7)
The first two moves are incorrect - 1.Sd6 wins and 2.Sd6 is a dual -, but afterwards the diagrammed position is reached.
3.Sd6+ Ke6 4.Sxf5 Kxf5 5.Kxh5 Bf2 (5...Bxg5 stalemate) 6.g6 Bd4 7.Kh6 Ke6 8.g7 Kf7 9.Kh7 Bxg7 stalemate.

EDIT, December 31: Information also is sought about German Motor (might also be spelt Herman Motor) | | (2) Posted by Sarah Hornecker [Friday, Jan 20, 2017 08:03] | With regards to the above, I think the "German/Herman Motor" was a misunderstanding I had in some Russian book, which for the life of me I can't find anymore (but it was similar to the Grandmaster Chess Composers by Anatoly Karpov and Evgeny Gik.
However, information generally is sought on "second row" Soviet (and not only Soviet but also of other countries) chess composers, i.e. those whose name appears often but nothing else is known about them. | | (3) Posted by Sarah Hornecker [Thursday, Aug 23, 2018 13:03]; edited by Sarah Hornecker [18-08-23] | According to the WFCC database, there is one German Motor, however his life data is 12 May 1935 (?).
https://database.wfcc.ch/index.php?-table=composers&-action=list&-cursor=0&-limit=30&-mode=list&-skip=8015
That is very suspicious, so likely it is Anatoly Motor (but with a wrong first name and 5-12 instead 12-5). But they must also have used that Russian book. Can someone resolve this mystery? | | No more posts |
