New (ha!) chess variant: Ebay chess
Found it in Math. Intelligencer. I.e., I only added the
silly name. Whether it can be used for problems...dunno.
1. No consecutive moves - you pay to move!
2. At the start everybody gets 100 chips. White gets also
a *. (100+100 can be changed to include ELO handicap etc...)
3. You bid secretly to move. The higher bid gets the right
to move. In case of equal bids the * decides: If you bid it too,
you won, and the * goes to the opponent. If not, the opponent
has won.
4. You move and pay your bid to the opponent.
5. Rinse and repeat.
6. "Mate"=enemy king in check and you have more money.
