Merry Christmas to you too, and thank you for sharing! It's very interesting to read about your studies, and not only see the diagrams and solutions.

I see you mention that Fritz is struggling with knight promotions; as you might know, other engines can help with that. I have Fritz and Rybka, which admittedly is an unpractical combo for a problemist: Fritz struggles with knight promotions, and Rybka doesn't consider bishop promotions, but together they are good enough in most cases. :)

Happy Solstice!

I am finding the honesty of your book (slash original problem collection) rather refreshing -- at least by comparison (which, I'm afraid, says very little; but, I have many pages yet to go)...

In all sincerity, I must admit, I'd prefer to read an honest critique of problem chess.
It's disappointing that you could find a deeper array of hardcore critics in the ambrosial worlds of food, and fashion.
Still, not even the most scathing critic could be entirely unsympathetic to the need for these direct, untainted outlets.
And, in the spirit of advancing that cause, I salute you, and thank you for this treasured gift.

I look forward to turning more pages.
Sincerely.

Thank you! It is indeed wonderful to read personal accounts of study composing, there are far too few of them around.
