Hi to all,

I simply sent to Mr. Selivanov a brief report on the changes in the award necessitated by the discovery of the cook in the 1st Prize, the way it is usually done in chess composition magazines, which never provide the full text of the final award, with repetition of the remaining problems and comments thereon.
I wrote only:

KHANTY-MANSIYSK – 2010 OLYMPIC TOURNEY FINAL AWARD,
RETROANALYSIS SECTION
D. Baibikov has shown that the 1st Prize (W. Dittmann) in fact has no solution:
“After the intended 1.Bb2-h8 h5-h4 2.Bf6-b2 Be5-a1 3.g3-g4 Black does not have to waste the precious pawn tempo 3.a4-a3. He needs to play for example 3.Ba1-e5 4.Bb2-f6 a4-a3 and the position on the board is the one arising after 11.a5-a4 in the intended solution, but with the black pawn on a4, not on a5, as in the intention. Furthermore, after 5.Bf6-b2 Be5-a1 6.g2-g3 Ba1-e5 7.Bb2-f6 a5-a4 it’s zugzwang for White, he has no pawn tempos, while Black has the move a6-a5 in store.”
The problem is therefore excluded from the tourney; accordingly, the Prizes and Honorable Mentions are as follows:
1st Prize – Dmitrij Baibikov
2nd Prize – Andrey Kornilov
3rd Prize – Nicolas Dupont
1st Hon. Mention – Klaus Wenda
2nd Hon. Mention – Thierry Le Gleuher
The Commendations remain unchanged.
A. Frolkin,
tourney section judge

The presentation of the revised final award was not prepared by me.
Yours,
Andrey

I see, nobody likes me. Then I send my study to another tourney and win first prize there. :P
