change of function

Hi All-
is there a concise definition of this chess problem term?

from FA 2007-9, p.598: in two variations or phases, two units exchange the roles they play for the attainment of the aim

This is OBVIOUSLY a definition of the EXCHANGE of functions.
FA terminology has deprived the word "change" of its meaning.
Which term could be used when one piece changes its function throughout the author's solution?

As an extreme example, there's the first problem on the page:

In PDB, this concept is termed "Funktionswechsel: Zwei (oder mehrere) Figuren tauschen in verschiedenen Phasen ihre Aufgaben." There is no English or French translation currently. Perhaps "Role Exchange" and "Échange de Rôles" would serve?

How about "Change-of-function" (single word!)? :)
___ (Added later). Sorry this was just for fun. As Nikola and Georgy point out, exchange of function is what is significant.

The point is that 'change' and 'exchange' do not have the same meaning. The apparent disrespect of the words and meanings is not only irritating and insulting, but it leads to misunderstanding of the whole concepts.
But who cares about it!?

I do! I'd like a definition of the former, if it exists!

I have made changes to the PDB keyword here, e.g. "Exchange of Roles".

PDB is great, but declared enthusiasts for terminological accuracy are needed to fill the many gaps in the keyword set. I am sure Gerd Wilts would be over the moon to have more volunteers.

As far as I can tell, there is no such thing as "change of funtion". This is too general a term.

There is:

1. Exchange of functions of pieces. See post 2.

2. Change of function of move (mainly twomovers). There are three main functions of white move (key/try, threat, mate) and two main functions of black move (defence, refutation). The same move has one of these functions in one phase and another one in other phase. The term is mainly used when there is no obvious pattern in change.

Григорий!
Возможно,Ю.Рознер имел в виду перемену защитных мотивов ,просто он обобщённо поставил вопрос.

Raju... Can you please point out which pieces exchange functions (not change function) in Kopyl's example.

Dear Raman Sir---

In 1st one BPa5 moved to h7 then function changed.

In 2nd Kopyl's Black pawn and Black Knight both the pieces exchanged its functions .

above is mine understanding.

Thanks for your reply and igniting me.
