ECSC 2016 Athens

Dear chess friends,
I have heard that the ECSC is going to take place in Athens this year. I would gladly participate but unfortunately I have no information about this event at all.
Maybe somebody here is wiser than me.

Found it myself: http://www.wfcc.ch/competitions/solving/ecsc2016/
I have searched it a couple of days before this information appeared.

Already somebody here at Athens?

Carry some earplugs along with you as some of the appartements are close to a very busy road.

Sven, here is a list with participants: http://chess-problems-gr.blogspot.bg/

Unfortunatelly there is no composing tourneys as was in some other ECSC before. In my opinion such composing tourneys are good addition to all events and attract the attention of composers too. Without it the whole event is no interesting for people who are composers only.

Open is already finished.

12 problems in 3 hours. Hard work!

Of course no results yet.

P. S. Thank you for the link, I knew that list and was only interested who like me arrived earlier this week.
P.P.S. Of course it is possible to have some composing tourneys but the connection between the event and these tourneys usually remains loose.

The set was difficult, I think the studies were too hard for this kind of competition.
Maybe it is a matter of taste but I always prefer having one real moremover. The 4-movers have more in common with the threemovers than with other moremovers.

But this is high level critics. We experience a wonderful chess event at a very nice place.

The study by Afek has the second solution 3.Kc5. Indicated by me after the provisional award in 2010, now confimed by Lomonosov tables and mentionned in the latest HvdH5 base.

With regard to the results of the Open, there is a slight change in the score of Vidmantas Satkus.

We uploaded the final table on the ECSC site.

As for the Afek's study: thanks to Sergiy for pointing out the dual. We are lucky that the results are not affected.

Very interesting competition, congratulations to the winners and many thanks for the quick reporting.

A little bit off-topic - at solving competition during the last "Sachsentreffen" Wieland Bruch solved 12 twomovers in 8 minutes, all problems were composed by H. Ahues (now it is better understandable, but nevertheless very impressive). I needed about 25 minutes, clearly to slow :(

And where are the superstars - leaders of a rating list Evseev and Zhuravlev? :)
Selivanov talk all the time about some unclear copulation, but there are no strongest solvers in the Russia team.:)
I consider that a title of champion is a little bit defective without strongest participants. :)

In my opinion this is very incorrect statement toward the great champion Piotr Murdzia. It's not like he did not beat them at the other competitions. Also even if they were not selected into the team by their team captain nobody was preventing them to show up individually (there is a rule that anyone with rating greater than 2400 can participate. And actually there was no single competition (WCSC or ECSC) where all top 10 solvers from the rating list participated. Does this means that all title so far are defective? I do not think so. As a runner up I can just one times more congratulate to Piotr for his great performance and title. By the way, I was missing George and other top solvers who did not participate. I hope they will all come to the Belgrade at WCSC in August.
