The 'artistic' and the 'technical' are not mutually exclusive facets, and their definitions are not carved in stone. But most problems fall squarely into one of those categories. Only the rare gem achieves both at a high level.

ok, I'll accept that -- but then, how does an extension (to 3 solutions) of a known idea, not fall squarely within the "technical" camp?
And, how does a novel (and far more paradoxical) idea, in an extensively worked orthodox genre, not fall squarely within the "artistic" camp?

If the extension (which I consider an improved construction -- a technical polishing) places the 3rd Prize in artistic territory, what about Jacque's twinless version?
I fail to see how either of these terms are useful, if I am fundamentally unable to fathom their assignment (which might easily be applied in a completely reversed manner).

@ Marjan, "...it is not only originality that makes the GP a better problem than the PC.
The GP is superior to the PC in: originality, completeness, intensity, depth, difficulty of the achievement, and …. the harmony"

I would say : "I mainly agree" but....
many of these points may be discussed

Harmony ? in PC it's quite hard to find harmony between variations, although you succeeded in finding 3 wB sacrifices, it's a good success, on the other hand, in GP harmony is better, but not complete

difficulty of achievement ? yes of course but you can hardly ask a judge to understand this

depth, intensity, completeness ? ok also they are in favor of the GP, but PC is also lighter and more elegant

So, I completely agree with you : also on these points GP is better than PC, but a judge could miss it or fall under the charm of the PC and place it higher without being opened to criticism.

Now, what about originality ?

You have this :

Tode Ilievski
Orbit 2000 - Prize
(= 6+12 )
h3#
1.B×e4 Bd5+ 2.K×d5 g8=S 3.Qc5 Se7‡
1.B×b3 Bc4 2.Kc5 g8=R 3.K×c4 Rc8‡

and also other problems, that are not anticipations, but should downgrade the PC. You have not such things for the GP.
