https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brochette.
(Traduction "Brochettes"= Skewer)

In case of promotion, is promoted piece considered a different kind of piece from the original pawn? Thanks in advance.

I'd say that two examples do not answer Mario's question. I understood his question as (example) "is it possible to make pawns moves in W1, one of them promotion e.g. to Queen, and checkmate in W2 by queen moves, one of the moves by the promoted queen". And some other borderline examples can thought out, some maybe even attractive...

Hi Juraj ,
"Any piece white or black can move only once.
After the promotion of a white or black pawn, this one does not move anymore."

I find the naming of this theme distracting.
'Skewer' is well-known chess term - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skewer_(chess) -
so it would be expected that in a chess problem the Skewer Theme would somehow feature this tactic.
However the definition as given seems to have nothing to with it.
Of course everybody's free to give names to their themes if they feel the need, but they really should take some care not to cause confusion.

Theme and terms means nothing in any art.
Therefore, free and imaginative minds of the world be free in your expression, and leave the terminology to moths.

Yes... Skewer is a totally inappropriate name for the theme. "Same piece" theme is more descriptive.

But less inappropriate than any "theme" that has the name of its "inventor".

From the Wikipedia link, an account of the origin of the term 'skewer' - interesting!

Да ли може неко да преведе ове текстове са француског?

This is in Serbian Cyrillic and means:

Can someone translate French text? Since this is an English speaking forum it does not make any sense to write text in French. If everyone starts writing in his own language nobody will be able to follow up on messages. I think you should move French text to notes.

Or perhaps there should be separate French forum group so that I do not waste time opening messages that I cannot understand at all.

As far as I know Abdelaziz cannot speak English.
So he does what he can.
You have translators on the web that can help.
If I remember well, you had here already posts in Russian, in German, in Romanian, in Yougoslavian, even in Hebrew.

What a wonderful world!

Our friend Milan had a noble idea making his MatPlus project. That's all that he publish or write should be available to every person in every corner of the planet. The English language was a logical choice, and I think it is fair that we all follow him in this.
