info on Robert Pye (Irish Studies composer)?

Can any mat plus members please share any info about Robert Pye (of Ireland).
Many of the databases seem to have ignored his works, but I recently stumbled across several nice studies he's authored (seems at least one made the FIDE Album).
I'd be interested in reading a short bio, and I'd like to see more of his work.

Thanks in advance.

ps: I hope Steven is reading this.

I seem to recall an article in "The Problemist" some years ago about relatively obscure study composers from the U.K. and Ireland that at least mentioned Pye. Perhaps Michael McDowell can help?

I don't know the article Ian refers to.

The only contact I ever had with Robert Pye was about 20 years ago when he got in touch seeking information about Irish composers for an article he was writing for a Finnish magazine (Suomen Shakki, I think). If anyone could find that article it might contain info about Mr.Pye.

Kevin,
There is an interesting interview in December 2010 issue of Irish Chess Journal, with R.Pye (a strong otb player and
studies composer), which might be of help to you, at the address:: www.icu.ie/icj.1012pdf.
Best, Ioannis

Thanks Ioannis.

I had read this interview -- you can shoot me back for not mentioning this in my original post -- but, I came away with more questions than answers.

Robert Pye's short article Composition in Ireland was published in Suomen Tehtäväniekat 5-6/1993, presenting Allan Bell, Michael Mcdowell, Patrick O'Shea and himself. His first published study appeared in the Assiac Jubilee award in 1972, the next year at the age of seventeen he published a helpmate in the BCM. He says that his composing has been sporadic. A Goverment employee in Dublin, married with two daughters. He shows three studies and the aforementioned helpmate.

Thanks Joose!

Is any bio given?
Birthday?
County?
etc?

I think I read somewhere that he's Ireland's "most prolific" composer, but this claim is difficult to support with online information.
Perhaps I overlooked some reference to only studies!?

The article is very short indeed, particularly on himself - the above is it.

I've found the article that Ian mentioned. It is "Some Lesser Known British Study Composers" by John Roycroft, in the January 1990 issue of "The Problemist". Roycroft quoted the following study with the comment: "Robert Pye lives in Ireland and is Irish, not British, but he says he does not mind being included in the present selection".

There are 21 studies by Robert Pye in the Endgame Study Database IV. The first one is from 1973, the last one is from 1997.
