The heroes of our time

Chess composers cover many different professions, but this year one profession deserves more appreciation and gratitude than all others.
I don't know how many medical workers among composers have been actively involved in daily struggle with Covid-19, but now I know there are at least two great composers among them.
Our GM Mario Parrinello has been in the first lines of Italian medical defense, as a general practitioner doctor, for more than four months. It was at the beginning of April when he wrote he had never witnessed such a scary situation in his 30 years career of a doctor. June is ending, but the troubles of medical workers in Italy still last ...
Tomorrow is the Day of medical workers in Ukraine, 21.06. In order to celebrate it, Ukrainian TV made an interview with the chief of the Chernobyl medical centre. Watching it, we got to know the other kind of problems this man solve: Sergy Ivanovich Tkachenko, our FM Composer and Ukrainian master of sport in OTB chess.

Thank you - I am humbled by the courage and dedication of medical professionals at this time. I will forward the link to Andrey Frolkin in case he hasn't seen it

Two of our composers in India: Manikumar in Chennai and Phanibhushan in Bangalore are also doctors(neonatologists). They are involved in newborn and pediatric care, including Covid positive cases. In these difficult times, chess problems and the current WCCT is helping to keep their spirits up! They have already composed good entries. We had a lively online meeting yesterday.
