Umnov I

The definition of a Umnov type I is like "a white piece moves not till then to a square occupied by a black piece after the black piece quites this square" (e.g. in a helpmate 1. Black: A->B White: c->A).

Is it mandatory that the white piece enters directly the square just cleared by the black piece?
Or is a delay between both moves allowed (e.g. in a helpmate 1. Black: A->B White: ... 2. Black: ... White: C->A)? So, a 'delayed' Umnov?

I guess, you got that from Schach-DDR. There is no delay allowed.

A delayed Umnov is - right - a delayed Umnov, and normally not specifically mentioned since it doesn't really fulfill the Umnov theme.

Again (cf. Fleck thread), I want to emphasize it's not the name
of the theme that makes a good problem. In your case, the question
obviously is whether the solver *recognizes* the delayed Umnov
in spite of the delay as something concise and thematic.

Siegfried will surely agree that in the RB/SS endgame there will
be a lot of delayed Umnows, but after 239 moves, you hardly
remember which piece left the field :-)

P.S. Googling always brings up interesting things :-)
