ONE OF OUR OWN ENDGAME STUDIES

Dear chess friends,

I´ve got the idea to publish a booklet in which the composers of endgame studies are presenting one of the favorite studies of their own. Of course there is a lot of excellent examples, but you would have to decide for just one of them. Your comments in English would be very welcome - answering e.g. the questions on the content, the history, the construction or further details of the study. The maximum for each author is normally four pages DIN A5. The title could read "One of our own endgame studies" and all participants will get a copy of the booklet. In a first step I would like to know, who is willing to take part in this project. A short email is enough for the time being (nc-jostenge@netcologne.de). Also additional ideas are welcome. I´m grateful to everyone for forwarding this message to other composers.

Meanwhile 40 agreements and 5 contributions came in. Therefore I give my word that the booklet will be started immediately. Please pay attention to the following hints.

1. The deadline to submit a contribution is December 31st 2009.
2. Only texts in English and only one study from each author are permitted. At the end of your text please add your postal address for a later dispatch of the booklet.
3. The size of each contribution (text plus diagrams) shouldn’t exceed four pages DIN A5 (like this paper size). A pgn file would be helpful to me.
4. You should comment your study intensively. Please give our readers information on the genesis of your work and on your personality. Our booklet intends to allow a comprehensive insight into the ideas of different composers from all over the world.

For a final correction each participant will receive his own contribution after my formatting and before printing. If there are further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me once more. In advance let me thank you for your readiness to tell about you and your work. Btw, John Roycroft has been so kind to write a foreword for our booklet.
Best regards
Gerhard
