To Belgrade Internet Tourneys 2017 – sction C

Pay attention that in this sheme is possible also:1…f1Q 2.Sf6 Qg2 3.Sd5 Qxd5# or 1…f1Q 2.Sd6 Qg2(Qf3) 3.Sb7 Qxb7#.

Looking for cooks should give a long forgotten pleasure to the solvers in Belgrade, and some more challenge to composers ...
Would next version be sound?

(= 3+5 )

(5) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Tuesday, Apr 25, 2017 01:24]

... No, it isn't... 1...g1Q 2.c5 Qh1! 3.c6 Qxc6#

And this one has a nice cook, too:
(= 3+5 )

1...g1Q 2.Se4 Qf1! 3.Sf6 Q:f6#

(7) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Tuesday, Apr 25, 2017 01:52]

How about this one?
(= 2+6 )

With a try 1...g1R 2.?? Rg4 3.Sc4+ R:c4#

(8) Posted by Petko Petkov [Tuesday, Apr 25, 2017 08:12]

In both positions is possible also a solution with B-promotion: 1...g1B 2.Sc6 Bh2 3.Se5 Bxe5#

In last version Queen promotion still seem to work the same way as a rook one - the diagonal is too short.

Maybe, the following version may work?

W: Kb3 Qc2 Sc3 Pa4d2
B: Kc5 Sb5 Pd3f2h7

1...f1B 2.Qb2 Bg2 3.Sd5 Bxd5#
1...f1R 2.Qb1 Rh1 3.Sa2 Rxb1#

Thanks, Georgy! Again at least one nice cook: 1...f1Q 2.Q:d3 Qa1 3.Qd4+ Sd4#
It seems there will be a lot of fun for composers and solvers!
What about next version, is it correct?

(= 3+5 )

1...g1B 2.Sc6 Bh2 3.Se5 B:e5#
1...g1R 2.Sb3 Rh1 3.Sc1 R:c1#

1...g1Q 2.~ Qg5 3.~ Q(x)a5#, while white knight moves randomly...

Qc2 may be moved to c1 in my version (still probably cooked).

In principle h#2.5 with inverted colors may be tested and then only solutions with Max. last move selected. Unfortunately, there will be thousands of solutions...

Tested my version (with Qc1) in this way.

Two groups of cooks:
1...f1Q 2.Qb2 Qg1 3.S~ Qg8#
1...f1Q 2.Qb2/Qa1 Qc1 3.Qa3+ Qxa3#

A wealth of interesting cooks! I do hope nobody would try to create any programmed testing, but rather test solving skill instead.
Does this correct all cooks, with 2 tempo-missing tries to mate on c4 and c6?

(= 2+6 )

Then 1...g1Q 2.Sb3 Qb1 3.Sc1 Qb4#.

Marjan,in this version there are three missing-tries: an other possibility is 1...g1Q 2.?? Qg8 3.Sb3 Qxb3#. Therefore better is probably with Sa5->d2

My proposal is the following version:

White: Kc3, Sd2 (2)
Black: Ke3, Ba6, Sa1, Sd3, Pg2, ph6 (6)
2 solutions: I. 1...g1B 2.Sf3 Bh2 3.Se5 Bxe5#, II. 1.g1R 2. Sb3 Rh1 3.Sc1 Rxc1#.
Try: 1...g1Q? 2.?? Qg8 3.Sb3 Qxb3#

@Petko,

There are more tries in your position:
1...g1Q 2.??? Qg8/Qg4 3.Sc4+ Qxc4#
1...g1R 2.??? Rg4 3.Sc4+ Rxc4#

@Petko
There is a cook that can be nice third solution I think:

(= 2+6 )

i) 1...g1R 2.Sb3 Rh1 3.Sc1 Rxc1#
ii) 1...g1B 2.Sf3 Bh2 3Se5 Bxe5#
iii) 1...g1Q 2.Se4 Qf1 3.Sf6 Qxf6#

@ Geir, Misha
Wonderful cooks :)
@ Petko, Misha
Already forgotten one from previous positions:
1...g1Q 2. ~ Qg5 3.~ Qa5#

(19) Posted by Petko Petkov [Tuesday, Apr 25, 2017 21:23]

Of course, it is a nice novelty! But I think that this position is only a good scheme. For a high ranking, something much better is needed.I guess that many will present an AUW!?

Yes! Therefore we can try again with black Pb5 + white Pa3?
