WCSC and Open are usually closed for solvers, judges, and helpers only. Other events not.

Thank you Marjan. It is very nice to see so young a composer. In solving it is not very unusual, but taking the extra step to go from solving to composing means that a more intimate relation with chess problems is in the making.

Thanks, Kostas. As you may know, we have regular classes of chess composition in our chess club, every Monday. Dusan was the last one to join it, but he's been quickly progressing, and you may find him in the top ten of ISC 2016 Category C.
Another 11-year old composer is Ilija Serafimovic. He joined our school at the end of 2013, and since then published enough of problems to take part in WCCI 2013-15, section Helpmates (you may see his entries). At the moment, Ilija is leading in ISC 2016, Category C.

Marjan, this is wonderful! I knew about the regular meetings in the chess club, but I didn't know about the junior classes. I saw the results of the juniors' section in ISC, but I did not connect the dots. Nor did I notice the WCCI participation. I am glad that you brought up this beautiful activity. Keep up the good work!

I am also happy that such young talents are rising. I hope they will be more. Keep going Marjan!

Thanks, Kostas and Diyan! You both missed the novelties since your last coming to Belgrade festivals, but you will have a chance to meet these and other kids during WCCC.

Really magnificent-truly wonderful reading about this next generation. Imagine...regular composition from composing masters! Curious if one of the lessons could be videotaped and put on Youtube? I would love to see a live lesson in action! Any chances Marjan?

No, Eugene, our meetings are rarely that academic! They are more like sharing the joy of composition in different ways. We organize 7-8 solving competitions per year, where these kids may take part (5 rounds of "League of Solvers", BPCF, Serbian Youth Competitions, U10, U14, U18, and Open Championship of Israel last two years). For practice in composing we use some of frequently organized SuperProblem TTs, BPCF Group C, Junior Championship of Australia with wonderful tasks prepared by Peter Wong, etc. Meanwhile, there is some theory, too, but the main thing is to regularly meet and enjoy composition together.

The 2016 Australian Junior Chess Championships will include a problem composing event. This Guided Chess Problem Composing Competition, organised by Nigel Nettheim, is aimed at introducing chess players and problem solvers to the basics of constructing a problem. The tasks are set by Peter Wong. The closing date is on next Sunday, February 7.

The first month of registration brought 65 participants from 21 countries.
The most surprising fact is to have not less than 18 ladies and 9 juniors on the current list!
This motivated the organizers to offer more options for the "ladies program". The registered participants will soon receive a list of offers for shorter and longer excursions, to vote for.

In WFCC solving competitions, like WCSC, ECSC and ISC, juniors are up to 23 in the year of competition.
In FIDE competitions, juniors are up to 20.
In Belgrade WCCC there will be parallel competitions for even younger categories, up to 18 (born 1998 and younger).
