h#n This can serve as a general thread for h#n (h#3½ or longer).
The following gem was posted as P1253985 on PDB today:
H. Grudzinski & M. Degenkolbe
1st Prize
Yves Tallec 80JT (Phenix 2009)
(= 2+5 )
h#8 (2+5) C+ { solution hidden below }
1.Kf3! Kf1! 2.Rb5 Kg1! (two wK moves away from the action) 3.c5 Kh2 4.Bb7 Bh5+! (just in time) 5.Ke4 Kg3 6.Kd5 Kf4 7.Kc6 Ke5 8.Rb6 Be8# (ideal)
One of the prettiest ideal/mini helpmates I've seen in a very long time. |

They could also show that in 8,5 with a Bristol instead of the switchback:
(= 2+5 ) h#8,5 |

Ok Dan!
To put all one square left as you did is a great improvement! the pb7 being much less dangerous than a pc7 or c6. New horizons appear.
for example with a longer King trip with tempo :
(= 2+5 ) h#9,5
1…Kg4! tempo 2.Rf6 Kh4 3.Kf3 Kh3 4.b6 Kh2 5.Qc7+ Kg1 6.Bb7 Kf1 7.Ke4+ Ke2 8.Kd5 Kd3 9.Kc6 Kc4 10.Rd6 Bb5‡ |

better like this :
(= 2+5 ) h#9,5
1…Kh5! 2.Rf6 Kh4 3.Kf3 Kh3 4.b6 Kh2 5.Qc7+ Kg1 6.Bb7 Kf1 7.Ke4+ Ke2 8.Kd5 Kd3 9.Kc6 Kc4 10.Rd6 Bb5‡ |

Fabulous! The more interesting wK route is a greater "plus" than the two Bishop clearances. |
