Composing Calendar

Now you can find the first online version of the planned Calendar of composing tournaments:
https://www.wfcc.ch/competitions/composing/calendar/
The content and quality will depend on your contributions (possible corrections, missing info, etc).
These shouldn't be posted here, but sent directly to the Calendar Coordinator Kenneth Solja:

Very good effort, if it sticks and is updated regularly, it will be primary place to go for any tournament information.

Very nice. Hopefully it will be updated regularly.

Right away I have one recommendation for improvements:

I think that margins from the left and right side of the table should be removed completely or set to the minimum size. On my monitor (27") the table with tournament information is occupying only 1/2 of the page width. The other half are margins from both side of the table. In my opinion this is very bad design. The important columns text is wrap in multiple lines and it's very hard to read them (look "The Problemist" informal tourney). It will be nice to increase the size of important columns and reduce the size of margins. Margins are not giving any useful information so I in my opinion they should be set to the minimum size. Then the more information will fit in one row of data and it will be easier to read text.

Thank you all for the many new contributions sent to Kenneth!
Yes, the regular update seems quite possible now, since each member of our community may take part in it.

For pdf documents, please, send only the links, and not the attachments!
All technical issues should be addressed to julia.vysotska@gmail.com.

There will be once we get the first tourney announcement. In informal tourneys we have retros and proofgames in some magazines.
Please give us link to any composing competition what should be found from the calendar and which is not yet there ...

The FRME organizers were urged to correct the description of the h#2 theme for the 6th FRME 2024, and now it is posted.
Besides, we kindly asked them not to send those frequent reminders to group emails.

We'll keep waiting for other organizers of formal and informal tourneys who haven't sent the needed facts yet.

It will be nice if it's possible to add a column when the record is created (Creation Date) and then to have an option to query for the records that were submitted within the last week (or user can enter the period duration). That way it will be easy for users to check all new records without spending too much time. Actually, it will be nice to have possibility to create a custom filter (like what we are doing on the raging lists).

For example, I may be interested in retrieving only records complying to conditions listed below:
1) Selfmate tournaments only
2) Submitted within the last 2 weeks
3) The deadline did not yet expire (at the moment I see in the list even tournaments where Award is already created)

Also, the tournaments where the closing date expired should be colored in some different (light red or something like that).

Misha, it would be fine if you read the announcement first ,
and then read all from this thread, before making suggestions!

Take a look at the WFCC post from 5 December on https://www.wfcc.ch/
You will notice most of your suggestions covered and explained,
although it didn't seem necessary for an experienced user as you are.

You want the current S# tourneys, you go to the first tab and select "F - Selfmates".
Then you press tab "Current tournaments", and you get what you need.

You still want to filter only those announced during the last 2 weeks?
But there are only 3, and not more than 6 in any section,
because that's how much are members have contributed by now.
Hopefully, there will be more, when people start trusting and supporting Calendar more.

After reading the announcement, you will understand why the tab "All tournaments" is there,
and who benefits from it. If you are not interested in awards, you just do as explained above.

Next, I repeatedly wrote here in Posts 1 & 4 where the contributions, and suggestions should be made.
Not here! It's easy to publicly suggest, and much harder to contribute in a proper way, as requested in the posts above.
