Online RETRO Solving Contest (Jan 4th, 2016)

Editorial board of international web project "SuperProblem" (http://superproblem.ru/index-en.html) announces the first quick online contest in solving RETRO problems.

Very interesting competition for those who enjoy retros. This includes people outside our circles, who see retros as logical problems for solving, or challenges for the mind. I am not sure how to publicize this event, so that it reaches them, too. Maybe an announcement at the retros mailing list (https://pairlist1.pair.net/mailman/listinfo/retros) would reach a greater audience.

This is not the first online retros solving contest - Andrey Frolkin organized one, a couple of years ago, but he allowed much more time, 2 or 3 days - but it may well be the first quick one of this kind. One hour is an extremely short time for retros solving. Sometimes, just writing the solution of a retro problem may take many minutes. Even in the traditional French retros solving championships the solving times are 2 to 3 hours, according to the difficulty. In any case, I wish a successful tourney and a lot of fun for those who will participate.

Nice idea but I do not like that competition is on Monday (working day). I bet that many solvers will be at work and will not be able to participate (including me). If organizer wanted to attract as more solvers as possible it would be better to change date to some Saturday or Sunday.

I presume the choice of date was intentional, to coincide with the International Chess Composition Day. I also presume that the unusually late time was chosen so that solvers can participate after work.

@ Kostas
Thanks for the source, we will try to use it.
True, it is not the first retros solving contest on SuperProblem but it is really a quick one (SuperBlitz).
The tournament is experimental.

@ Miodrag

Since the project "SuperProblem" is global, it is impossible to satisfy all potential participants of this quick online contest.
The tournament is devoted to The International Chess Composition day (January 4th).
According to the website statistics the largest number of visitors falls on the interval from 20.00 till 21.00 Moscow time on working days.
You can view the statistics here: https://metrika.yandex.ru/dashboard?id=21911053&ncrnd=2020&period=2015-01-01%3A2016-01-02&group=day

@Vitaly,

OK, now I see the reasoning for the time of this competition. It does make sense. I wish good luck to all solvers. I will not make it this time but I hope I'll participate next year.
