Should we think that the official results are not known yet or, that ECSC was a secret tournament? |

It looks a little bit strange, that the team with 2 first individual places became only second, isn't it? :) |

That's the point of a well balanced team work, to exceed the sum of individual results.
The sum of 3 best individual results in a particular round makes the team-result of that round. Since a team may consist of 4 solvers, the sum of the team-points of 6 rounds might exceed the 3 best individual 6-rounds sum.
To Piorun's and Murdzia's 66,5+66,3, Gorski and Mista have together contributed 74,5 points. Gorski "saved" 1st and 4th round.
Theoretically, a team of 4 solvers with individual scores 75,75,60,60 might beat a team with 4 individual scores 90,90,90,90 :-) |

Actually it's not so strange since they had 3 solvers only and other teams had 4 solvers. The team points are calculated as three best results from fours solvers (each round). So the second place is very good since their result was always sum of all three solvers. |

@Nikola
Actually you are wrong. Even when there are 4 solvers sum of points cannot be bigger than 270. In all rounds 3 best results from 4 solvers are calculated for team ranking. |

The time decides about the ranking too. |

Ouch! They had only 3 solvers!? How could I miss it!? :) And where were others? Russian chess federation and Russian solvers are so poor that can't organize the full team? :) Where is this young talanted guy who beat Murdzia in the World Cup? Where is the new Russian champion who beat Evseev and others? Shall we see this Russian magic solver in the international events or at least in the rating list for the first time? :) |

I have not yet seen results with a rating gains/losses. Does anyone know if table like this exists or not? It's almost two months passed from the time of the competition and results are not yet available. In my opinion it's a shame. Soon there will be new rating list published 7/1. But I am wondering how that will be done without this competition. I do not see any reasons why the rating calculation is not done during the competition. I think there should be rule that rating has to be published together with a results. Since there is a rating calculator (Excel spreadsheet) there should be no excuse for not publishing ratings. Since list of participants is usually known in advance it's very easy to prepare ratings. |
