We regret to inform the problemist community that bernd ellinghoven is seriously ill in hospital, according to recent information, in a coma. He will need at least 3 weeks to recover.
Bernd is responsible for the printing and distribution of a number of magazines devoted to chess compositions and it is likely that a number of these will be delayed.
We all hope that he will recover and return to good health.

The full snippet I received is quoted below.
QUOTE "... bernd ellinghoven is seriously ill in hospital. He suffered an infection (possibly Legionella pneumophila), which led to a sepsis. In order to control this (very serious) infection, he was placed in an artificial coma. My sister, bernd's partner, told me that his health condition is slowly improving. (She asked me to inform you about that.) The medical treatment seems to have been set into motion just in time, otherwise the disease might have been lethal. Yet, the recovery is still at an early phase, and he still is as patient in the intensive care unit. The doctors say that a thorough rehabilitation will be required...."
The prayers of my family are also with bernd. | | (4) Posted by seetharaman kalyan [Saturday, Sep 13, 2014 19:01] | Oh... for all of our benefit, I join you wishing him a quick recovery. | | (5) Posted by Kevin Begley [Sunday, Sep 14, 2014 13:23] | I hope bernd returns to his best, very soon; if it takes a little more time, may patience multiply this shared sentiment. | | No more posts |
