For discussion: A Mat Plus problem scrapheap

How often did I a) had a neat idea but no scheme or
b) a scheme but no decent problem or c) saw a lousy
constructed problem and immediately thought, "Next
send it to me first for economization" :-)

I.e., I suppose there must be thousands of half-baked
problems which might become full-baked if you only
swallow your pride and ask a fellow problemist if
he has an idea about it.

Thus: What do you think of a "Mat Plus problem scrapheap"
where everyone could post his unfinished business
for free experimentation?

An obvious issue would be that a results couldn't be
sent to an informal. So there. I bet Mat Plus Forum
has an about as large public as, say, the SCHWALBE,
so if the problem gets the publication data "MPF 20xx"
and is not eligible for the highly esteemed Foo-Bar
prize...so there.

A number of folks already do that in chat, throwing out ideas and matrices for others to look at and see what they can find, and these discussions then often go to email where final versions are hammered out.

Having multiple chatrooms and the potential for private chat here would probably facilitate the process.

If Milan makes a "For Members Only" subforum with this, I see no problem; also not with sending to an informal tourney. The definition of publication is (AFAIR, I could be wrong) that a problem is made available to everyone.

Maybe he also can make available a "tracker" so the composer sees who has visited the thread (although I may visit all, just for curiosity).

Just my 2 cents.
Siegfried

EDIT: Members means registered users, not necessarily subscribers.

The Codex (http://www.sci.fi/~stniekat/pccc/codex.htm#c5) is carefully worded, and more precise.

That should be the tourney organiser's decision.

enabling an unrestricted number of people

That's what I meant by "everyone".

So I see no issues here. But maybe Andrey comes to solving championship, then I can ask him. At least I was told by someone he often comes to such events, although I personally doubt it.
