Sadly MatPlus was down for a few hours, so here it is already the 22nd. Many years ago Milan and I had private conversations on phone and via chat, and I am not sure how he sent it to me but he did sent me an MP3 file. It must have been sometime in 2007 or 2008, but I might be wrong about that. I will need to look at the file date later.

Anyway, it was this song. I don't know what it meant to him, but he seemed to greatly have enjoyed it. So as a small gift, I want to share - not the file, of course, but the song. Sadly I don't find the same performance on Youtube as he sent me. It was labeled "Swing Kids - Hit that Jive Jack". So I assume it is from the 1993 movie? In any case, here is a performance by the legendary Nat King Cole.

Milan was passionate about music and treasured his favourite collections, often bringing them to trips for listening in the car, or offering them to his home guests. At the beginning there were Stones, whose concerts he visited several times. Later on, Stray Cats and 10CC were often around.
Chess composition was nicely matching with music for him.

Vika and I visited Milan for several times, even staying over the night at his home. He always had the newest records of music he loved. I remember albums from Blondie, 10CC, Queen... It remained in my memory how enthusiastic we all were when he got a new Queen album, Hot Space, in 1982. We listened to all songs more than once in a row. Especially we enjoyed a song Body Language. What unforgettable times. We miss you very much, Milan!

Heir of the great master
Like a musketeer of alabaster.
Naked without cloak or sword
conveying ideas by the word.
Lived, bequeathed to us his life
so we may bequeathe, live, thrive.

(Translation of Valery's poem, had to change it slightly to make it work in English)

EDIT: I had the wrong last word. Oops!

"After Valery and Siegfried"!

Heir of the great master.
Like a musketeer of alabaster.
Naked without cloak or sword,
Conveying ideas by the word.
Every day was a blast,
Like it was his last.
Bequeathed to us his life,
So may we bequeath, live, without strife.
