I am very grateful to Christian Poisson for his continual work harvesting to WinChloe original problems published here. I just checked that there are 380 matplus.net compositions present in the database.
Some of the diagrams that I post here are just drafts, or later I see that the diagram can be improved. This kind of creative participation, without thought of judges or awards, reminds me of playing football (soccer) in the streets as a kid. Do those provisional efforts belong in a database? Probably not.
I've chatted with Christian, and he agrees that if a problem here is marked "draft" or "schema", he will make sure that it doesn't get uploaded to WinChloe.
Others might want to do the same, sometimes. Others may not care. This is an opt-out: the default remains as it is today - a problem published here may be hoovered up to WinChloe.
All the best,
Andrew | | (2) Posted by Hauke Reddmann [Friday, Jan 14, 2022 10:13] | Sounds fair.
What also sounds fair to me: as WinChloe is commercial
(for non-commercial databases like PDB or YACPDB,
this is a strict non-issue and doable with author search),
any composer should have the right to get the extract
(in a readable form! AFAIK the format is proprietary?)
of what is stored of his own compositions. (In return, he
might provide corrections etc.) Naturally, the right should
be used sparingly.
Methinks this is in line with European data laws, but I'm
no lawyer anyway - and what do the problemists here think?
What does Christian think? | | (3) Posted by Kevin Begley [Friday, Jan 14, 2022 15:08] | Wait.
You are telling me I have the right to remove all trace of problems I wish I had never published?
Do I have the right to remove the original version, as well, when I later published a correction or improvement?
Oh, for joy!
I'm going to substantially reduce my output of -- and significantly improve my average quality of -- problems!
And, there will be a little less clutter in this space.
Is it just me, or is entropy suddenly moving in the other direction? | | (4) Posted by Hauke Reddmann [Friday, Jan 14, 2022 19:39] | @Kevin: I only wanted to be *informed* - I said nothing at
all about the right to make *changes* in other peoples
databases. Which, by the way, might still be covered by European
data laws :-) (You can sue an asocial media to remove photos
where you are caught pants down, so why not remove problems
where you are caught construction pants down? :-) Satire mode end.) | | No more posts |
